Treasure

Tue Aug 12, 2008, 8:12 PM
We gather here, together today,
One last time before we go our own ways.
Many of us have run out of time
And this time is the last that our paths will align.
As we embrace one another with tears in our eyes,
We exit this place to return to our lives.
Never forget how you’re feeling right here
Because with this feeling there’s nothing to fear.

When things start to get tough, remember this place.
Just try to return to this sacred space.
Realise that when we’re all here together
Each one of us shares a bit of treasure.

Though you may feel like you’re out on your own,
Always know that you’re never alone.
In times of desperation, no matter the situation,
No matter the destination, the city, the nation,
Know the vibration from this congregation
Will bring you confirmation during separation.
And when navigation brings only frustration,
And when you cannot find affirmation,
And when you feel as though in isolation
Like so many in this generation and this population,
Think of this place for motivation
And the sensation of a realization, a revelation,
A transformation, an inspiration, and consolation
Will, without hesitation, bring you fascination.
Without explanation you will feel the exhilaration
Of millions and billions and trillions of hugs,
And the feeling that you are loved, shot like an arrow
Straight into your heart, levitating you high in the sky,
Where you can fly right by all the pain and insanity
That humanity seems to bring us,
Constantly telling us that we don’t measure up
To its high standards, when in reality,
In all actuality, the truth rings out clear
That nobody is what they sell to you here.

Be the best person that you can be,
So that when the world turns its head it will see
You shining bright in the dead of the night;
A beacon of hope that will help them take flight.

The moon pulls the tides high and then low
Like the waves that move in an ebb and flow
Motion, in their long-term devotion
To the rest of the vast, stormy ocean
That opens far and stretches wide,
Reaching out to touch the night sky
Where the moon waits to appear each night.
And when it does, keep it locked in your sight.
Look high and look low in the sky ‘till you know
That you’re looking right at the moon’s bright glow.
Don’t let your eyes let that moon leave your gaze,
And I think that you’ll be surprised and amazed
To find that those here with you still
Will be watching for it from their window sill.
Glancing out from their dark, lonely rooms,
Wishing that they could be there with you, too.
The moon and it’s pull will bring all of us back
Just as it pulls the waves back again to attack
Until you’re not sure which way’s up or down
You fear for your life as you start to drown
In the ocean of tears that begins to appear
Washing away all that you know to be dear.
But before all this danger that makes you a stranger
Whirls you into this world full of anger,
Realise that this is just metaphor
Or is it real life—I’m not sure anymore.
Emotions, devotions are the oceans and wars,
That take you away from the view of the shore
And we aren’t sure if you’ll be back the next day
Brought back on the next set of waves with the winds
That mean change and incoming pain from the rain, it’s insane
What remains is the name of the game that we play
With each other each day; it’s so sad to say
That somehow I see where I’m going to be
Left on the shore, crashing up with a roar
Like the waves that rise high and the ships out at sea
Like the days of our lives and the people we meet
The tides represent the tears that we cry
That cause the ocean of emotion to rise to the sky
And fall again as the painful rain of others’ words,
Showering down on you and the birds
That symbolize your voice and your spirit
Which let you shout out so that others may hear it.
But the clouds and the tides hide your view of the skies,
Revealing nothing to see but the tears in your eyes
That flow by like the waves of new days that go by
So endlessly, senselessly, countlessly,
And unknown to the world which is hurled soundlessly
Into space where the moon circles Earth
In a pattern—a cycle—it’s done so since birth.
Which is a cycle itself, signified by
The shine that you see on the moon in the sky.
The light on its own has never been known
Yet the reflection I see is not new to me.
This can also be found when we first see the sun;
The same light rises up but the day’s just begun.
The things that we learn and the tests we endure
Are just like disasters and weather, I’ve learned.
As we stand in this field, looking up at the sky,
The night starts to clear and the clouds pass us by.
The wind and the clouds and the sun and the rain
Are gone from us now, though the night still remains.
The moon and the sky are your new second home
And they both stand for something all on their own:
The sky is the window through which we see peace,
The space in between is the place where we sleep.
Perfected, reflected, on the moon, shining bright…
…is here, where we’re gathered tonight.
When things start to get tough, remember this place.
Just try to return to this sacred space.
Realise that, when we’re all here together,
Each one of us shares a bit of our treasure.

It’s a tough course that life must insist,
If I had some advice, it would have to be this:
Nothing can stop the changing tides,
But don’t let that break these lasting ties
That we share between one another,
With all of our sisters and all our of brothers.
No matter what colour, where, or what size,
We all reflect the same light in our eyes.
We light this chalice as we depart,
Leaving this place is when our journeys start.
Take a bit of the flame with you as you go
So we all remain warm and we all stay aglow.
And take with you as you leave here today
The strength to keep you afloat everyday.
And the feeling of having us all at your side,
Reflecting our spirits across the night sky.

Your photography is really cool! You could make them even cooler though, if you took the same shots at multiple exposure levels and made HDR images, they look really great.
